What is Unemployment Insurance Scheme?
It is a form of insurance or security for all employees to provide them with financial support at the time of job loss due to termination by the employer. To avail of this, you have to pay a certain premium on a monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly basis.
How much premium to pay?
1) If your basic salary is less than AED16,000 you will have to pay AED5 per month or AED60 per year.
2) If your basic salary is more than AED16,000 you will have to pay AED10 per month or AED120 per year.
When will you become eligible and how long will you receive the compensation?
1) You need to complete a minimum of one year of subscription.
2) Not eligible if you are terminated due to disciplinary reasons as mentioned in the labor law.
3) You will receive up to 3 months or until you start new employment whichever is earlier.
4) One must submit the claim within 30 days of his unemployment.
How much compensation will you receive?
1) If your basic salary is less than AED16,000 you will receive 60% of your basic salary up to a limit of AED10,000 per month.
2) If your basic salary is more than AED16,000 you will receive 60% of your basic salary up to a limit of AED20,000 per month.
