New UAE labor law – Notice period for resignation/termination in UAE

The notice period for resignation is a question almost everybody has. These details will give information.

1) Refer to your Mohre labour contract: The exact notice period will be mentioned in the contract.

2) You can clearly see the number of days of notice in the contract while you sign it.

3)If you don’t remember you may request it from your HR/PRO or you can even get it from the MOHRE application.

4) If you don’t receive a labour contract from the company (which you have to) you can always go to a Tasheel branch and get it printed. Tasheel may charge a small fee for that.

5) In the labour contract, it may be mentioned as 30, 60 or 90 days of notice.

6) So as per the labour contract, you may have to serve that number of days as notice while resigning and if it’s termination, your employer should be giving you that number of days as notice.

7) In case of not serve your notice period after resigning, you will be liable to pay the notice pay salary (full salary) to your employer.

8) In case of termination, if the employer doesn’t give you a notice period, the employer is liable to pay you the notice pay salary (full salary)

P.S: Do note that there are terminations that don’t require a notice period like cases of serious misconduct, criminal cases, serious violations, etc. which you may find in detail in Article 44,45 of UAE labour law. https://u.ae/en/information-and-services/jobs/terminating-employment-contracts/termination-of-contract-without-notice-by-the-employer
